Early in my practice, a client once sighed, “I wish I’d been born with an instruction manual.”
Instead, we followed the familiar therapeutic path, tracing present pain back to old wounds,
uncovering protective patterns that once helped but now stood in the way of being fully
herself. But her longing for an instruction manual stayed with me.
Over time, I discovered many ancient teachings, such as the I-Ching, Astrology, and Human
Design, all offering remarkable insights into who we might be. Whatever the miracle that
occurs at birth, it seems to imprint us with a unique set of traits and challenges. Yet while
these systems reveal who we might be, they often leave us wondering how to get back to
being that person.
The Star Psychology approach bridges that gap between nature and nurture. It combines
the wisdom of these ancient maps with the insight of modern psychology. With this
approach I can help my clients more efficiently, understanding the discord between their
innate potential and their lived experience, and using that knowledge to explore what has
been getting in the way. Through curiosity, creativity, and play, clients realign with their
core, using the archetypes of the I Ching, but now reimagined as relatable characters such
as the Caring Parent, Hardworking Loner, or the Freaky Genius.
From your birth chart we identify the four strongest archetypes, your Fab Four, as well as the
tricky “moody moon” influence that waxes and wanes like the moon itself. We then work
with the image of a Roman charioteer, standing tall in their chariot, guiding their four
horses, while keeping an eye on the unpredictable moon that stirs their emotions. The
ancient wisdom teachings tell us that through cultivating our inner witness (our charioteer),
we can coordinate our self-parts so they move in harmony, rather than discord.
Instead of endlessly searching for what blocks your potential, we can use the personality
traits of each archetype, both good and bad, to gain insight into the conditioning that took
you away from being your true self. It’s a wonderful way to work, and almost all clients
connect instantly with their Fab Four and Moody Moon archetypes. Or as one client so
beautifully put it, “It was like reading myself on paper.”
